Charlotte was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst in August. The surgeon at Gatineau General Hospital recommended ACL reconstruction, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,000, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $1,600 short. my mother has been in and out of Gatineau General Hospital since August. The doctors say a large ovarian cyst will get worse without ACL reconstruction. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,000 is more than we can find. While we wait, Charlotte struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Charlotte won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing.
