Stop the eviction: 5 months of rent for Khadija's family in Dammam
After a long illness, Khadija is 5 months behind on rent and has a court summons for non-payment from the landlord.
🇸🇦 Dammam, Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia1,612 views
After a sudden layoff at the textile factory, Khadija fell 5 months behind on rent. Last Thursday a court summons for non-payment was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $650.
The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by October, the family must leave.
There are 4 children at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
Khadija has started working evenings as a cleaner, and is applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
The money will be paid directly to the landlord and I'll upload the receipt once it's done.
Where the $650 goes:
• Late fees and court costs: $85
• First month of rent as a buffer: $450
• Utilities in arrears: $115

Stay strong, Idris. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Take care.
Thinking of you and your family. I hope your landlord gives you a bit more time while this comes together. I'm in farming myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Take care.
Wishing you the best, Idris. It takes guts to ask. Well done. I hope October is when things finally get easier.
