Stop the eviction: 5 months of rent for Atieno's family in Dar es Salaam
A long illness left Atieno short on rent for 5 months; help us stay in our home.

After a sudden layoff at the call centre, I fell 5 months behind on rent. Last Sunday a court summons for non-payment was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $500.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by August, we must leave.
I've 4 children at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working extra hours at a market stall, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
The money will be paid directly to the landlord and I'll upload the receipt once it's done.
Where the $500 goes:
• First month of rent as a buffer: $95
• Utilities in arrears: $35
• Rent arrears (5 months): $370
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Good luck, Atieno. Rent stress is the worst. Hope this helps.
Take care, Atieno. I hope things turn around soon. Greetings from Haarlem
You're not alone, Atieno. Looking forward to the next update. Greetings from Mumbai.
So sorry you're going through this. Gave what I could, wish it was more. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Greetings from Makati.
Best of luck. Shared it with a few friends. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Thinking of Dar es Salaam!
