Stop the eviction: 5 months of rent for Akoth's family in Nairobi
A final eviction notice arrived last week. Akoth needs $800 to clear the arrears and stay housed in Nairobi.

After a car accident that kept me from work for 3 weeks, Akoth fell 5 months behind on rent. Last Monday a final eviction notice was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $800.
The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by September, the family must leave.
There are two young children at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
Akoth has started working evenings as a cleaner, and is applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
