Stop the eviction: 3 months of rent for Hiroshi's family in Setagaya
The closure of the factory left Hiroshi short on rent for 3 months; help us stay in our home.
🇯🇵 Setagaya, Tokyo, Japan2,178 views
After a sudden layoff at the hotel, I fell 3 months behind on rent. Last Monday a notice to vacate was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $2,700.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by January, we must leave.
I have a toddler and a baby at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working evenings as a cleaner, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
Where the $2,700 goes:
• First month of rent as a buffer: $520
• Rent arrears (3 months): $2,000
• Utilities in arrears: $180
I hope life is good to you.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Hiroshi
First month of rent as a buffer is $520 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Thanks for asking.
