Stop the eviction: 3 months of rent for Everett's family in Ballarat
A court summons for non-payment arrived last week. Everett needs $1,350 to clear the arrears and stay housed in Ballarat.

When my hours were cut in half in September, Everett fell 3 months behind on rent. Last Thursday a court summons for non-payment was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $1,350.
The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by January, the family must leave.
There are three school-aged children at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
Everett has started working evenings as a cleaner, and is applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
Where the $1,350 goes:
• Utilities in arrears: $230
• Late fees and court costs: $330
• First month of rent as a buffer: $790
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Thinking of you and your family, Nathan. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected.
