After a car accident that kept me from work for 8 weeks, I fell 3 months behind on rent. Last Saturday a 10-day notice to quit was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $3,950. My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by November, we must leave. I have a toddler and a baby at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else. I have started working two part-time jobs, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here. Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent. Where the $3,950 goes: • Rent arrears (3 months): $2,550 • Late fees and court costs: $240 • Utilities in arrears: $180 • First month of rent as a buffer: $980 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Rent arrears (3 months) is $2,550 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Fair thing to want to know.
