Start-up fund for Zahra: reopening a roadside café after floodwater
Zahra lost an espresso machine and grinder to floodwater and needs $3,400 to reopen a roadside café and support the family.

For three years I have run a roadside café in Duluth. In December, floodwater took an espresso machine and grinder. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Sunday, and I employed 3 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 12 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
Once I'm back on my feet I plan to hire back the people I had to let go.
Where the $3,400 goes:
• Replacing an espresso machine and grinder: $1,800
• Initial stock: coffee and pastries: $640
• Shop repairs and licensing: $290
• Working capital for the first month: $670
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Praying for you, Zahra. Small businesses are the heart of Duluth. Hope you're open again soon
Wishing you the best. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I'm in construction myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Thinking of Duluth.
Hope it all works out, Zahra. I'd happily buy from you once you're back up. Thinking of Duluth.
