Start-up fund for Yolanda: reopening a bicycle repair shop after the demolition of the market
A bicycle repair shop in Austin needs help replacing a full set of tools after the demolition of the market.
Anywhere in the world546 views
For nine years I have run a bicycle repair shop in Austin. In July, the demolition of the market took a full set of tools. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Tuesday, and I employed 3 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 7 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
I'll buy equipment from local suppliers and post photos and receipts as I go.
Where the $1,850 goes:
• Initial stock: spare parts: $700
• Working capital for the first month: $750
• Shop repairs and licensing: $400
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Stay strong, Yolanda. Shared it with a few friends
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Yolanda.
Initial stock: spare parts is $700 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Good question.
Wishing you the best, Yolanda. Shared it with a few friends. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. God bless.
You're not alone, Yolanda. Gave what I could, wish it was more. I'm in accounting myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Blessings.
Gave what I could, wish it was more. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Love from Nakuru.
