Start-up fund for Wanjiru: reopening a barbershop after a long illness and repossession
Wanjiru lost clippers, chairs and mirrors to a long illness and repossession and needs $400 to reopen a barbershop and support the family.

For nine years I have run a barbershop in Dar es Salaam. In May, a long illness and repossession took clippers, chairs and mirrors. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Sunday, and I employed 3 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 8 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
Once I'm back on my feet I plan to hire back the people I had to let go.
Where the $400 goes:
• Replacing clippers, chairs and mirrors: $195
• Initial stock: supplies: $60
• Shop repairs and licensing: $65
• Working capital for the first month: $80
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.

Sending love, Wanjiru. It takes guts to ask. Well done. My husband and I read this together.
Take care, Wanjiru. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. All the best.
Gave what I could, wish it was more. I'm in construction myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. God bless.
stay strong. Shared it with a few friends. Please keep us posted. Take care
