Start-up fund for Sharmila: reopening a neighborhood bakery after a fire in the building
A neighborhood bakery in Gazipur needs help replacing a commercial oven after a fire in the building.
🇧🇩 Gazipur, Dhaka, Bangladesh1,355 views
For six years I have run a neighborhood bakery in Gazipur. In March, a fire in the building took a commercial oven. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Sunday, and I employed 3 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 3 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
I'll buy equipment from local suppliers and post photos and receipts as I go.
Where the $400 goes:
• Replacing a commercial oven: $175
• Initial stock: flour, butter and sugar: $90
• Shop repairs and licensing: $60
• Working capital for the first month: $75
If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people.
