Start-up fund for Burcu: reopening a barbershop after a fire in the building
Burcu has run a barbershop for nine years; a fire in the building destroyed the equipment, and $1,100 will put it back on its feet.

For nine years I have run a barbershop in Kadıköy. In March, a fire in the building took clippers, chairs and mirrors. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Saturday, and I employed 1 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 8 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
Once I'm back on my feet I plan to hire back the people I had to let go.
Where the $1,100 goes:
• Initial stock: supplies: $170
• Replacing clippers, chairs and mirrors: $840
• Shop repairs and licensing: $90
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Rooting for you, Burcu. Small businesses are the heart of Kadıköy. Hope you're open again soon. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. God bless.
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Burcu.
Sure. The biggest one is initial stock: supplies, $170. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. It helps to be asked.
hope things get better soon, Burcu. I hope things turn around soon. Take care.
hope you make a strong comeback. After 16 years in construction I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Blessings.
sending love. I hope things turn around soon. Love from Hawassa
