Lagos
Nkechi was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in January. The oncology team at Lagos Regional Medical Center has planned 4 rounds of treatment, starting in March. She will be away from work for about 8 weeks. Nkechi is 31, worked as a nurse until January, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Lagos Regional Medical Center 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $1,450 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $920 • Scans and lab work: $190 • Transport to Lagos Regional Medical Center: $65 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $70 • Household costs while unable to work: $205 Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly. - Zubby

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Nkechi.

        • Chemotherapy and medication not covered is $920 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. I'll keep the page updated.

      • Sending love, Zubby. This could happen to any of us. I have a 10 year old who wants to send good wishes too. God bless.

        • take care. Gave what I could, wish it was more. We're a small family in Ribeirão Preto but we're thinking of you. Take care.

          • Hope things get better soon. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. After 29 years in teaching I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Take care.
