Mekdes was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in October. The oncology team at Mekelle Regional Medical Center has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in January. She will be away from work for about 8 weeks. Mekdes is 46, worked as a shop owner until October, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Mekelle Regional Medical Center 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $1,350 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $780 • Scans and lab work: $200 • Transport to Mekelle Regional Medical Center: $125 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $90 • Household costs while unable to work: $155 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.
