Standing with Margaret: non-Hodgkin lymphoma treatment costs
Margaret is facing non-Hodgkin lymphoma and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

In January I was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. My oncology team at Mombasa Regional Medical Center has planned 4 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in April. I was told to expect about 5 weeks away from work.
I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 53, I worked as a farmer until January, and I have been the main earner for my household.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Mombasa Regional Medical Center 2 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly.
My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $1,550 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,000
• Household costs while unable to work: $300
• Scans and lab work: $250
