Standing with Manisha: Hodgkin lymphoma treatment costs
Supporting Manisha through Hodgkin lymphoma: medication, transport to Kathmandu Cancer Centre, and living costs while She can't work.
Anywhere in the world1,263 views
In July I was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma. My oncology team at Kathmandu Cancer Centre has planned 8 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in October. I was told to expect about 8 weeks away from work.
I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 45, I worked as a construction supervisor until July, and I have been the main earner for my household.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Kathmandu Cancer Centre 5 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly.
My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $1,400 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $890
• Scans and lab work: $210
• Transport to Kathmandu Cancer Centre: $130
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $55
• Household costs while unable to work: $115
Thanks for reading all this.
