Gizem was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in March. The oncology team at the Freiburg Oncology Institute has planned 10 rounds of treatment, starting in June. She will be away from work for about 7 weeks.
Gizem is 27, worked as a construction supervisor until March, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Freiburg Oncology Institute 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $7,950 goes:
• Household costs while unable to work: $1,200
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $5,000
• Scans and lab work: $930
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $820
