Standing with Carol: prostate cancer treatment costs
6 rounds of treatment are planned at the Flint Oncology Institute; we're asking for help with the costs insurance doesn't cover.

In January I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. My oncology team at the Flint Oncology Institute has planned 6 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in April. I was told to expect about 10 weeks away from work.
I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 51, I worked as a nurse until January, and I have been the main earner for my household.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to the Flint Oncology Institute 4 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly.
My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries.
I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes.
Where the $8,950 goes:
• Scans and lab work: $1,500
• Transport to the Flint Oncology Institute: $730
• Household costs while unable to work: $2,250
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $4,470
Thanks for being kind about this.

Wishing Carol a smooth procedure and a full recovery. Wish I lived closer to Yekaterinburg so I could bring a meal.
