Silvia is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a diploma in hospitality management at Los Angeles University, and is two terms away from graduating. She has worked as a warehouse packer to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $1,750.
The registrar has said Silvia can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Silvia has a top-ten-percent average, and a professor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Silvia would lose her place and scholarship eligibility.
Silvia isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the Los Angeles University bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
Where the $1,750 goes:
• Exam and lab fees: $210
• Final term tuition: $1,400
• Textbooks and materials: $140

Sending love, Graciela. Hope you get there. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Greetings from Iași.
You're not alone. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Greetings from Edinburgh.
Thanks for sharing this, Graciela. Good luck with the exams, you've got this. My husband and I read this together
take care. Shared it with a few friends. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Los Angeles
Sending strength, Graciela. Study hard!
