Siddharth is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying a diploma in hospitality management at Salem State College, and is two terms away from graduating. He has worked as a warehouse packer to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $650.
The registrar has said Siddharth can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Siddharth has a 3.6 average, and a department head has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Siddharth would lose his place and scholarship eligibility.
Siddharth isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the Salem State College bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
Where the $650 goes:
• Outstanding tuition balance: $430
• Final term tuition: $200
• Exam and lab fees: $20
