Gabriella was diagnosed with a hernia that has become strangulated in January. The surgeon at Saint Anne Hospital recommended septoplasty, and She is scheduled for April. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $6,750, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $4,750 short. my daughter has been in and out of Saint Anne Hospital since January. The doctors say a hernia that has become strangulated will get worse without septoplasty. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $6,750 is more than we can find. While we wait, Gabriella struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 6 weeks. During that time Gabriella won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing. The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did. Where the $4,750 goes: • Hospital stay (3 nights): $3,000 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $1,500 • Post-operative medication: $250 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself. - Douglas
