Rong is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a law degree at the Los Angeles Institute of Technology, and is one term away from graduating. She has worked as a warehouse packer to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $5,900.
The registrar has said Rong can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Rong has a 3.9 average, and an academic advisor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Rong would lose her place and scholarship eligibility.
Rong isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
Where the $5,900 goes:
• Outstanding tuition balance: $2,550
• Final term tuition: $3,000
• Exam and lab fees: $210
• Textbooks and materials: $140
