Raleigh
The Pioneer wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 45 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 76 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good. We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist. The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade. All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials. We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted. Where the $2,850 goes: • Native saplings and stakes: $1,600 • Tools and protective gear: $370 • Waste removal and skip hire: $710 • Signage and educational materials: $170 Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly. - Gabriel

Updates from Gabriel

  1. Update from Raleigh: the plan for signage and educational materials is now scheduled. We're at 13% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  2. Wanted to say thank you properly. 63% funded and I made the first payment toward native saplings and stakes.

  3. Quick update: $2,963 raised so far (104%). I met with the nursery and confirmed the amounts. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.
