Restoring the Liberty riverbank: a volunteer-led project in Aurangabad
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Liberty riverbank needs $400 for saplings and equipment.
🇮🇳 Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India937 views
The Liberty riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This January, 64 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 55 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $400 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $190
• Tools and protective gear: $80
• Waste removal and skip hire: $100
• Signage and educational materials: $30
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Wishing you the best, Parth. Shared this with my family. Thinking of Aurangabad!
Rooting for you, Parth. Shared it with a few friends. I have a 12 year old who wants to send good wishes too.
Thinking of you and your family. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. All the best.
Wishing you the best. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Put this on a community board in Saint-Denis this morning. God bless.
