Restoring the Baobab canal: a volunteer-led project in London
Help us clean and replant the Baobab canal before the July planting window closes.
🇬🇧 United Kingdom2,347 views
The Baobab canal has been used as an informal dump for years. This March, 56 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 172 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $1,600 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $520
• Tools and protective gear: $290
• Waste removal and skip hire: $550
• Signage and educational materials: $240
Every share and every dollar helps.

keep going. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I have a 14 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Thinking of London
Good luck, Andrew. Shared this with my family. My husband and I read this together.
Great idea, hope you get there. I hope July is when things finally get easier. Blessings.
Good luck, Andrew. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like.
Sending love, Andrew. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. All the best!
