Restoring the Acacia hillside: a volunteer-led project in Kazan
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Acacia hillside needs $550 for saplings and equipment.
🇷🇺 Kazan, Tatarstan, Russia1,221 views
The Acacia hillside has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 111 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 105 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $550 goes:
• Signage and educational materials: $65
• Tools and protective gear: $90
• Native saplings and stakes: $395
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Rooting for you, Tetiana. Hope this works out for you. I went through something like this 14 years ago and strangers helped me out. Greetings from Galway.
