Juiz de Fora
Sycamore Creek has been used as an informal dump for years. This March, 82 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 48 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good. We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist. The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade. All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials. We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted. Where the $550 goes: • Signage and educational materials: $45 • Native saplings and stakes: $420 • Tools and protective gear: $85 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Updates from Heitor

  1. Update from Juiz de Fora: the plan for native saplings and stakes is now scheduled. We're at 75% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  2. Quick update: $240 raised so far (44%). I made the first payment toward signage and educational materials. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Heitor!

Signage and educational materials is $45 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page.

Wishing you peace, Heitor. It takes guts to ask. Well done. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it.
