Restoring Cedar Creek: a volunteer-led project in Jakarta Barat
Volunteers are restoring Cedar Creek in Jakarta Barat; $300 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇮🇩 Jakarta Barat, DKI Jakarta, Indonesia1,316 views
Cedar Creek has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 84 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 77 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $300 goes:
• Waste removal and skip hire: $115
• Native saplings and stakes: $95
• Tools and protective gear: $90
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.

Wishing you the best. Great idea, hope you get there. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend!
Stay strong, Galih. I hope things turn around soon. After 27 years in nursing I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Take care.
wishing you the best. More neighborhoods should do this. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Take care.

Sending good thoughts, Galih. Gave what I could, wish it was more. After 28 years in retail I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Take care.
