My family left Venezuela 12 months ago after we could no longer live safely. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in New York. We're a family of six and we're safe, but we arrived with very little. Our resettlement agency has provided 2 months of rent, and that support ends in September. I was a shopkeeper in Venezuela, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well. We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months. All purchases will be documented and photos shared (with the family's consent). Where the $4,500 goes: • Rent deposit and first month: $2,800 • Beds, table and basic furniture: $830 • Winter clothing and school supplies: $330 • Language classes and bus passes: $330 • Phone and internet for school and job search: $210 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
