The tornado hit the families of Hillcrest Lane on 3 May. My home was one of 31 damaged, and 4 families are still in temporary shelter at a mosque and church hall.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters.
Where the $5,750 goes:
• Food parcels for displaced families: $680
• Tools and labor for repairs: $1,000
• Roofing sheets and timber: $4,070
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

Shared it with a few friends. After 13 years in social work I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Love from Buenos Aires.
Praying for you. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Thinking of San Diego.
take care. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Take care.
sending strength. Shared this with my family. I have a 7 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Love from Adelaide.
