Rebuilding after the fire in the market: Orchard village needs your help
After the fire in the market, families in Orchard village need clean water, roofing materials and bedding.
🇹🇿 Mwanza, Mwanza, Tanzania518 views
The fire in the market hit Orchard village on 25 July. My home was one of 42 damaged, and 14 families are still in temporary shelter at a mosque and church hall.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates.
Where the $400 goes:
• Food parcels for displaced families: $125
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $185
• Clean water and purification supplies: $90
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.

Hang in there, Anyango. This could happen to any of us. Put this on a community board in Parramatta this morning.
