Plant 5,000 native trees around the Sycamore riverbank in Caruaru
Volunteers are restoring the Sycamore riverbank in Caruaru; $550 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇧🇷 Caruaru, Pernambuco, Brazil1,156 views
The Sycamore riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This October, 30 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 194 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $550 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $280
• Tools and protective gear: $95
• Waste removal and skip hire: $90
• Signage and educational materials: $85
Thank you so much.

Thinking of you and your family, Mateus. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Take care.
Hope things get better soon, Mateus. Shared this with my family. My neighbor in Leicester donated after I showed her your page. God bless.
Praying for you, Mateus. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. My neighbor in Cairo donated after I showed her your page!
Sending love. Shared it with a few friends. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Blessings
hang in there. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Thinking of Caruaru.
