Plant 4,800 native trees around the Cedar wetland in Pune
Volunteers are restoring the Cedar wetland in Pune; $300 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇮🇳 Pune, Maharashtra, India470 views
The Cedar wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This December, 53 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 55 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $300 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $165
• Tools and protective gear: $45
• Waste removal and skip hire: $75
• Signage and educational materials: $15
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.

Stay strong. This could happen to any of us. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry.
