Plant 2,650 native trees around the Acacia canal in Savar
Help us clean and replant the Acacia canal before the October planting window closes.
Anywhere in the world1,006 views
The Acacia canal has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 38 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 180 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $350 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $145
• Tools and protective gear: $70
• Waste removal and skip hire: $75
• Signage and educational materials: $60
Glad we found this place.

Is there anything that isn't money that would help Sharmila?
Thank you. If you're in Savar I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Thanks, that means a lot.
Keep going, Sharmila. I hope things turn around soon. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Take care.
