Plant 2,600 native trees around the Lotus wetland in Fort Worth
Help us clean and replant the Lotus wetland before the September planting window closes.
🇺🇸 United States930 views
The Lotus wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 69 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 79 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $1,850 goes:
• Signage and educational materials: $270
• Native saplings and stakes: $630
• Waste removal and skip hire: $950
Thanks for being kind about this.
Updates from Marilyn
Thank you all. We're at 21% now ($397). I'm honestly stunned. I made the first payment toward waste removal and skip hire.
