Plant 1,200 native trees around the Pioneer canal in Sukkur
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Pioneer canal needs $250 for saplings and equipment.
🇵🇰 Sindh, Pakistan835 views
The Pioneer canal has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 39 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 126 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $250 goes:
• Tools and protective gear: $35
• Native saplings and stakes: $195
• Signage and educational materials: $20
With deep gratitude,
Anum

Wishing you peace. This could happen to any of us. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Thinking of Sukkur.
More neighborhoods should do this. Thinking of Sukkur.
Sending good thoughts. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Wish I lived closer to Pattaya so I could bring a meal. Thinking of Sukkur.
