Jimma
Liberty Creek has been used as an informal dump for years. This June, 105 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 172 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good. We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist. The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade. All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials. We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted. Where the $150 goes: • Signage and educational materials: $25 • Waste removal and skip hire: $95 • Tools and protective gear: $30 Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure. - Habtamu

You're not alone, Habtamu. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Thinking of Jimma

        • Best of luck. This could happen to any of us. I went through something like this 9 years ago and strangers helped me out. Take care

          • Gave what I could, wish it was more. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Thinking of Jimma.
