Pamela's final semester of a master's in public health in Baton Rouge
Pamela has worked and saved for four years to study a master's in public health; a $4,900 gap now stands between her and graduation.

Pamela is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a master's in public health at Baton Rouge Polytechnic, and is one semester away from graduating. She has worked as a barista to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $4,900.
The registrar has said Pamela can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Pamela has a 3.8 average, and an academic advisor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Pamela would lose her place and scholarship eligibility.
Pamela isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
Where the $4,900 goes:
• Outstanding tuition balance: $1,050
• Final term tuition: $3,400
• Exam and lab fees: $330
• Textbooks and materials: $120
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
