Zain is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying a computer science degree at the Gujranwala Institute of Technology, and is one semester away from graduating. He has worked as a barista to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $650.
The registrar has said Zain can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Zain has a 3.8 average, and a department head has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Zain would lose his place and scholarship eligibility.
Zain isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
Where the $650 goes:
• Outstanding tuition balance: $200
• Final term tuition: $410
• Exam and lab fees: $35
• Textbooks and materials: $5
