Umesh is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying a nursing degree at the Ludhiana Institute of Technology, and is two terms away from graduating. He has worked as a delivery rider to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $350. The registrar has said Umesh can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Umesh has a 3.9 average, and a professor has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Umesh would lose his place and scholarship eligibility.
