I'm the first person in my family to go to university. I'm studying an agriculture degree at Zanzibar City State College, and I'm two terms away from graduating. I have worked as a delivery rider to pay my way, but this term my hours were cut and I have an unpaid balance of $255. The registrar has told me I can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. I have a 3.9 average, and my academic advisor has written in support of my application for a payment plan. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support my younger siblings. Without enrolling this term I'd lose my place and my scholarship eligibility. I'm not asking for a handout - I want to finish what I started and then help the next student. Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees. Where the $255 goes: • Exam and lab fees: $30 • Final term tuition: $220 • Textbooks and materials: $5 Every share and every dollar helps.

  • Hang in there, Maina. I hope things turn around soon. Take care.

    • Best of luck, Maina. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected!

stay strong, Maina. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it.
