One semester away: help Lauren graduate from Manukau Community College
A first-generation student, Lauren needs help covering tuition for the final stretch of a diploma in hospitality management.
🇳🇿 New Zealand1,035 views
Lauren is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a diploma in hospitality management at Manukau Community College, and is two terms away from graduating. She has worked as a tutor to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $4,650.
The registrar has said Lauren can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Lauren has a 3.6 average, and a faculty supervisor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Lauren would lose her place and scholarship eligibility.
Lauren isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the Manukau Community College bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
Where the $4,650 goes:
• Outstanding tuition balance: $2,350
• Final term tuition: $1,750
• Exam and lab fees: $250
• Textbooks and materials: $300
Every share and every dollar helps.

Thinking of you, Wayne. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry
Thanks for sharing this, Wayne. This could happen to any of us. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected.
As a teacher I love seeing someone work this hard to learn. I have a 12 year old who wants to send good wishes too. All the best.
