I'm the first person in my family to go to university. I'm studying a degree in civil engineering at the Birmingham Institute of Technology, and I'm one semester away from graduating. I have worked as a delivery rider to pay my way, but this term my hours were cut and I have an unpaid balance of $5,450. The registrar has told me I can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. I have a 3.9 average, and my academic advisor has written in support of my application for a payment plan. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support my younger siblings. Without enrolling this term I'd lose my place and my scholarship eligibility. I'm not asking for a handout - I want to finish what I started and then help the next student. The payment will go directly to the the Birmingham Institute of Technology bursar's office. I'll post the receipt. Where the $5,450 goes: โ€ข Outstanding tuition balance: $2,500 โ€ข Final term tuition: $2,650 โ€ข Exam and lab fees: $125 โ€ข Textbooks and materials: $175 Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.
