One semester away: help Gianna graduate from the Wollongong Institute of Technology
A first-generation student, Gianna needs help covering tuition for the final stretch of a degree in civil engineering.

I'm the first person in my family to go to university. I'm studying a degree in civil engineering at the Wollongong Institute of Technology, and I'm one term away from graduating. I have worked as a shop assistant to pay my way, but this term my hours were cut and I have an unpaid balance of $5,450.
The registrar has told me I can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. I have a 3.8 average, and my academic advisor has written in support of my application for a payment plan.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support my younger siblings. Without enrolling this term I'd lose my place and my scholarship eligibility.
I'm not asking for a handout - I want to finish what I started and then help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
Where the $5,450 goes:
• Final term tuition: $2,950
• Textbooks and materials: $115
• Outstanding tuition balance: $2,385
If you're reading this, thank you.

Keep going. This could happen to any of us. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Thinking of Wollongong
Rooting for you. Your post was clear and honest. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like.
Wishing you peace, Gianna. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money
