I'm the first person in my family to go to university. I'm studying a pharmacy diploma at the Fort Worth Institute of Technology, and I'm one semester away from graduating. I have worked as a delivery rider to pay my way, but this term my hours were cut and I have an unpaid balance of $4,050. The registrar has told me I can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. I have a first-class average, and my department head has written in support of my application for a payment plan. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support my younger siblings. Without enrolling this term I'd lose my place and my scholarship eligibility. I'm not asking for a handout - I want to finish what I started and then help the next student. Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees. Where the $4,050 goes: • Outstanding tuition balance: $1,000 • Final term tuition: $2,550 • Exam and lab fees: $150 • Textbooks and materials: $350 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support. - Elijah

  • Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Love from Nashik.

    • It takes guts to ask. Well done. We're a small family in Addis Ababa but we're thinking of you. Greetings from Addis Ababa.

      • you're not alone. Education changes everything, hope you graduate with honors. Put this on a community board in Akron this morning. Take care.

        • Stay strong, Elijah. As a teacher I love seeing someone work this hard to learn. My cousin had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Thinking of Fort Worth.

          • Gave what I could, wish it was more. Sent it to 27 people at work
