Olinda
The flood hit the families of Hillcrest Lane on 26 June. My home was one of 69 damaged, and 14 families are still in temporary shelter at the local school gym. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters. Where the $2,650 goes: • Roofing sheets and timber: $1,400 • Clean water and purification supplies: $220 • Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $350 • Food parcels for displaced families: $230 • Tools and labor for repairs: $450 Glad we found this place.

  • Sending love. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry.

    • Is there anything that isn't money that would help Felipe?

Thank you. If you're in Olinda I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. It helps to be asked.

    • Praying for you, Felipe. It takes guts to ask. Well done. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it.

      • Hope you get there. Thinking of Olinda

Hope things get better soon, Felipe. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I have a 11 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Blessings.
