My tuk-tuk: Antonio's only way to earn a living
Antonio drives for a living in Coyoacán, and a broken transmission has stopped all income for 4 weeks.

I make my living with my tuk-tuk. 4 weeks ago the transmission failed, and the mechanic says the repair will cost $400. Without the vehicle I earn nothing.
I have been borrowing from friends to pay rent, and now I have run out of people to ask.
I support my two daughters and my mother. Before the breakdown I worked nine hours a day, six days a week. I have been offered extra shifts for the next six months if I can just get the vehicle working.
I have a written estimate from a certified mechanic and will upload it here.
All money will go toward the parts and labor on the estimate, with a small amount for road tax and insurance renewal.
Where the $400 goes:
• Towing and inspection: $45
• Road tax and insurance renewal: $60
• transmission replacement (parts): $295
Thank you so much.

Good luck, Antonio. Hope the shop reopens soon. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day
So sorry you're going through this. Hope the shop reopens soon. It's not much but it's yours. Take care.
Sending love, Antonio. I hope things turn around soon. My husband and I read this together. Thinking of Coyoacán.
