My school-run minibus: Adel's only way to earn a living
Without my school-run minibus Adel can't work; a $300 repair would put him back on the road.
🇪🇬 Cairo, Cairo, Egypt1,699 views
I make my living with my school-run minibus. 6 weeks ago the clutch assembly failed, and the mechanic says the repair will cost $300. Without the vehicle I earn nothing.
I have been borrowing from friends to pay rent, and now I have run out of people to ask.
I support my two daughters and my mother. Before the breakdown I worked eleven hours a day, six days a week. I have been offered extra shifts for the next six months if I can just get the vehicle working.
I have a written estimate from a certified mechanic and will upload it here.
I'll pay the mechanic directly and show you the repaired vehicle in an update.
Where the $300 goes:
• clutch assembly replacement (parts): $160
• Labor charges: $65
• Road tax and insurance renewal: $45
• Towing and inspection: $30
If you're reading this, thank you.

sending strength, Adel. Shared this with my family. Put this on a community board in Guadalupe this morning. Love from Guadalupe.
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Adel
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. clutch assembly replacement (parts) comes first ($160) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. It helps to be asked.
Keep going, Adel. Hope the shop reopens soon. All the best
