My ride-share car: Ruth's only way to earn a living

Without my ride-share car Ruth can't work; a $1,050 repair would put her back on the road.

I make my living with my ride-share car. 6 weeks ago the gearbox failed, and the mechanic says the repair will cost $1,050. Without the vehicle I earn nothing. I have been borrowing from friends to pay rent, and now I have run out of people to ask. I support my family of five. Before the breakdown I worked twelve hours a day, six days a week. I have been offered extra shifts for the next six months if I can just get the vehicle working. I have a written estimate from a certified mechanic and will upload it here. All money will go toward the parts and labor on the estimate, with a small amount for road tax and insurance renewal. Where the $1,050 goes: • gearbox replacement (parts): $500 • Labor charges: $270 • Road tax and insurance renewal: $155 • Towing and inspection: $125 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Updates from Ruth

  1. Quick update: $145 raised so far (14%). the plan for road tax and insurance renewal is now scheduled. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.
