My motorbike: Njoroge's only way to earn a living

Njoroge drives for a living in Kasarani, and a broken engine head gasket has stopped all income for 5 weeks.

I make my living with my motorbike. 5 weeks ago the engine head gasket failed, and the mechanic says the repair will cost $260. Without the vehicle I earn nothing. I have been borrowing from friends to pay rent, and now I have run out of people to ask. I support my family of five. Before the breakdown I worked ten hours a day, six days a week. I have been offered extra shifts for the next four months if I can just get the vehicle working. I have a written estimate from a certified mechanic and will upload it here. I'll pay the mechanic directly and show you the repaired vehicle in an update. Where the $260 goes: • engine head gasket replacement (parts): $190 • Labor charges: $35 • Road tax and insurance renewal: $30 • Towing and inspection: $5 Thank you so much.

  1. Thank you all. We're at 27% now ($69). I'm honestly stunned. we've booked the dates and paid the deposit.

  2. 32% there. I met with the mechanic and confirmed the amounts. Thank you.

You're not alone, Njoroge. I hope things turn around soon. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Greetings from Nakhon Ratchasima.
